Australian Curriculum
The overarching aims of the Australian Curriculum: The Arts, music knowledge, understanding and skills ensure that, individually and collaboratively, students develop:
- the confidence to be creative, innovative, thoughtful, skilful and informed musicians
- skills to compose, perform, improvise, respond and listen with intent and purpose
- aesthetic knowledge and respect for music and music practices across global communities, cultures and musical traditions
- an understanding of music as an aural art form as they acquire skills to become independent music learners.
Choir
Strathpine State School has a long history of maintaining an enthusiastic and successful criteria. With both junior and senior choirs working hard and having fun, they compete in many competitions throughout the year and perform regularly on our assemblies and special occassions. Rehearsals are Wednesday mornings at 8am in the Music Room and are conducted by our talented Music Teacher Mr England and our lovely teacher Aide Lyndal Smith.
Band
Our Junior and Senior bands are under the tutorlidge of Mr Sam Denning. Mr Dennings runs our instrumental program at our school and at the neighbouring Pine Rivers State High School. Students from year 4 onwards are able to audition and join the bands and are involved in weekly lessons and regular performances and competitions.
Dance Squad
Both Senior and Junior Dance Squad are lunch time committments where students have fun and learn dance routines that then become a part of our Winter and Spring Concerts.
Musical, Pantomimes and Plays
Each year Strathpine State School presents a musical, pantomime or play. This is a large scale performance that is performed over two nights and is always a hit with parents, students and the local community. Each year a different script or musical is chosen and students spend regular after school rehearsals preparing for the event. It is hosted in term 4 each year and is open to all students from years 4 to 6 to audition and participate. We even have stage, lighting, sound and props crew that students can also join to be involved in this awesome event.
Strathpine's Got Talent
Each year Strathpine State School hosts Strathpine's Got Talent. An opportunity for students to show case their individual talents and perform for the school in the hope of being crowned the winner by the judges on the day. Winners have included dancers, singers, poetry reciting and even sight word challenges. This opportunity is open to all students across the entire school.
Concerts
Each year Strathpine State School hosts a variety of concert evenings including Winter and Spring Concerts, end of year Carols, Band and Choir performance and much, much more.
